Compensation Range:Ìý$27.98 To $35.09 Plus bonusÌý

Job Purpose
The Lead Lineman is responsible to lead a small crew in the placement of aerial fiber cable and all facets of outside plant construction. The Lead Lineman will perform and provide guidance/training to junior linemen in placing aerial strand and cable by climbing poles, using ladders, and operating bucket or line trucks. The lineman may also place buried cable or run drops as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•ÌýÌ� ÌýPerform all duties pertaining to telecommunication line placement and construction
•ÌýÌ� ÌýSafely operate and maintain aerial bucket/line trucks, reel trailers, lashers and associated eqpt
•ÌýÌ� ÌýInstall hardware, strand, anchors, down guys, overhead guys, etc.
•ÌýÌ� ÌýInstall fiber and coax cables from pole to pole, manholes, into buildings, etc.
•ÌýÌ� ÌýFollow all safety requirements and actively promote safe practices within the crew
•ÌýÌ� ÌýPerform construction duties while on a ladder
•ÌýÌ� ÌýClimb poles at different heights in order to perform construction dutiesÌý
•ÌýÌ� ÌýRespond to corrective network problems, performing effective and efficient problem analysis, rapid troubleshooting diagnosis and prompt repair of cable/hardware/equipment to ensure service restoral objectives are met
•ÌýÌ� ÌýAccurately prepare and complete concise reports relating to repair data: network location(s), materials used, time, etc.
•ÌýÌ� ÌýProvide guidance and training to junior linemen regarding safety precautions and procedures as well as technical scope
•ÌýÌ� ÌýAssign tasks to junior linemen and coordinate line crew activitiesÌý
Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýOTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•ÌýÌ� ÌýRead maps and procedures to complete daily work
•ÌýÌ� ÌýPlan and implement preventative maintenance routines to ensure network standards of performance are met
•ÌýÌ� ÌýEnsure required information is reported to the correct parties in a timely, accurate and professional manner
•ÌýÌ� ÌýMaintain and track tool and material inventory as assignedÌý
•ÌýÌ� ÌýOther duties as assigned by the Field Manager

Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONSÌý
ÌýÌý ÌýEducation and Experience
•ÌýÌ� ÌýGr.12 High School Diploma or equivalent
•ÌýÌ� ÌýMinimum 2 years experience in CATV/fiber telecom industry required
ÌýÌý ÌýSkills and Skill Levels
•ÌýÌ� ÌýExcellent English speaking/communication skills (verbal and written)
•ÌýÌ� ÌýProficient computer skills (specifically MS Outlook; Word, Excel preferred as well)
•ÌýÌ� ÌýAbility to work at heights over 30ft
•ÌýÌ� ÌýAbility to lift equipment/ladders up to 75lbs
•ÌýÌ� ÌýAbility to work independently with minimal supervision
•ÌýÌ� ÌýAbility to lead others and foster safe performance of a line crew
ÌýÌý ÌýOther Requirements
•ÌýÌ� ÌýValid Driver’s License â€� Class 5 with Air Brakes certification or Class 3
•ÌýÌ� ÌýIncumbent must obtain a Criminal Record Check and Drivers Abstract on regular intervals upon starting and during employment
•ÌýÌ� ÌýAbility to work standing and overhead for extended periods
•ÌýÌ� ÌýStrong mechanical aptitude
Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý WORK ENVIRONMENT
•ÌýÌ� ÌýMonday to Friday (8am â€� 5pm); however, some weekends or overnights may be required with minimal notice
•ÌýÌ� ÌýRegular after-hour support required for live work during maintenance windows (2am-6am)
•ÌýÌ� ÌýMost tasks are performed outside in all weather conditions
•ÌýÌ� ÌýTravel up to 90% of the time (covering New Brunswick and Nova Scotia)
•ÌýÌ� ÌýIn this position you will be assigned to many sites, routes and a large coverage area and may be asked to join an on-call rotation to provide our customers emergency support

General Job Requirements
- Must be able and willing to do overnight travel
- Must be able and willing to operate a forklift.
- This position requires you to drive a company vehicle. Therefore, you must be able to pass the company’s driving requirements. Certain vehicles may also require a specific drivers license and have additional driving requirements.
- Must be able to differentiate colors.
- Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime.
- Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Risk of electrical shock.
- This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
- This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
