Job Description

To implement company EHS Standards and meet company EHS goals & objectives, we are looking for a strong and energetic Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to join Avery Dennison factory located at Dhaka EPZ, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

  • Spend significant time engaging with operations, project and maintenance team to drive a strong, health safety culture in the organisation.Ìý

  • Organizing and controlling the EHS functions of the site to ensure that an effective Incident prevention (includes Injury prevention & Fire prevention) and regulatory compliance program is maintained as

  • Responsible for overall implementation of EHS with respect to local site requirements including company specific policies and programs.

  • Integration of company and facility level EHS management systems to maintain compliance, environmental protection and safe operating conditions.

  • Coordinating the Job Safety Analysis program and PPE compliance program and maintaining the SDS system.

  • Driving continuous improvement and delivering strong results from behavioral based processes.Ìý

  • Conduct regular EHS GEMBA at shop floor and other areas of the factory premises.

  • Train all employees, contractors & visitors for company EHS standards.

  • Closely monitor activities of all employees including contractor's employees.Ìý

  • Prepare, update and implement EHS policy, procedures of the company.

  • Maintain an emergency response plan and implement it properly.

  • Ensure EHS compliance at all locations to meet the local legal act and rules & international standards.Ìý

  • Attending Avery Dennison Global/Corporate EHS audit, brands/3rd party social and EHS audits and close promptly audit findings.

  • Driving continuous improvement in EHS Risk management and ensuring sustainability risk mitigation at all the Bangladesh sites.

  • Input monthly EHS data in the global reporting tool.

  • Reporting the incident/near miss to the EHS Head and post reporting tool, update the findings with close out statusÌýÌý

  • Assisting/Arranging monthly safety committee meeting and emergency mock drill

  • Prepare yearly training plan to meet company goal, local law and brand's requirementsÌý

  • Conduct necessary environment, health & safety training to all employee as per plan

  • Discuss and update daily EHS findings in daily/weekly/monthly meetings.

  • Prepare yearly action plan and take lead/co-lead to implement the action planÌý

  • Regular reporting to EHS Head showing closer rate of action plan, accident finding, brand's findings etc.

  • Conduct incident investigation, identify proper root cause, findings and actions plan to avoid recurrence.Ìý

  • Prepare and assist EHS Head yearly opex/capex budget with monitoring and implementation

  • Prepare/Update/Monitor EHS risk assessments and work permit process.

  • Organize and carry out internal auditing for the EHS Management system and monitoring for close out the findings.Ìý

  • Liaison with local legal authority and global team as required

  • Monitoring EHS compliance for employees, contractors & others stakeholders.Ìý

  • Monthly reporting of EHS KPIs.

  • Identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices and developing hazard control practices and programs.Ìý

  • Track, Monitor and ensure compliance of EMS, Energy, Water, Wastewater, Air Emission, Waste, Chemicals management

  • Work with different Key stakeholders (Reputed international brands, Govt authority, local & international NGOs, consultants, Vendors, suppliers, third parties for compliance requirements, regular communication and reporting as required.

  • Work for factory up-gradation/continuous improvement work to meet NIRAPON/RSC standard for the factoryÌý safety on structural, fire & Electrical safety.Ìý

  • Attend for EHS, Social compliance audits and certifications program (Higg FEM, Brands ENV audit, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, SLCP, SMETA) etc.

  • Ensure chemical compliance requirements such as ZDHC standards, RSL, CIL to meet Avery Dennison global standard & other reputed brands requirements.

  • Supporting and assisting in the tracking of site/corporate sustainability objectives

  • Delegate and ensure completion of all projects and daily responsibilities of maintenance personnel.

Team Management:

  • Lead and Manage EHS team for the assigned Business unit/units.

  • Delegate & monitor work completion, team members performance.

  • Assess the team members training needs and help them develop.

  • Evolve a culture ofÌý delightful, inclusive & respectable working environment.

Ìý

Operational Activities:

  • Conduct Daily departmental MDI & delegate/monitor works.

  • Ensure data tracking in real time as needed per daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly.

  • Own the Permit to Work(PTW), MoC(Management of Change), Risk assessment, Fire Safety Maturity Model(FSMM), Safety By Technology(SBT) / Safety Validation (SV)

  • Own the Near Miss Safety observation(NMSO) reporting, analyzing, tracking & closing.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents and complete the loop of CAPAR & sustenance of the actions.

  • Maintain Emergency response plan

  • Liaison with local authority and global team as required

  • Monitoring chemical/waste management and provide necessary advice as required Compliance.Ìý

  • Ensure RSL and Chemical compliance requirements for Avery & buyers requirements

  • Conduct necessary environment, health & safety training to all employee as per plan

  • Driving monthly safety committee meeting and fire drill

  • Train all employees, contractors & visitors for company EHS rules and regulation.

  • Prepare yearly training plan to meet company goal, local law and RBO requirements

  • Prepare yearly opex/capex budget with monitoring and implementation

  • Monitoring EHS compliance for Employee, Contractor & Others

  • Work for factory up-gradation/continuous improvement work to meet RSC/NIRAPON standard for the factory safety.

Global/Corporate Activities:

  • Manage EHS Policies/SOP/Reports.

  • Drive Global EHS projects, track, report, train and sustain as needed.

  • Input monthly EHS data in the global reporting tool

  • Attend assigned global calls/meetings and follow up meeting outcomes.

Professional skills(as minimum):

  • A total of 10 to 15 years of hands-on experience in the EHS field.

  • Proven records of technical problem solving(Safety by Technology, Safety by engagements etc.)

  • Good knowledge and previous experiencesÌý about facility level maintenance/Electrical/Structural activities.


Qualifications
  • Graduate in any form of Engineering from reputed universities.

  • One International Standard EHS Certification is a must.(Ex: NEBOSH IGC/IOSH MS/CIH etc.)

  • Awareness Understanding of 5S, Six Sigma/Lean/Lifting work or any other related topics will add value to the department.

  • Good knowledge in country labor law, factory act,Ìý environmental laws and other relevant acts/rules.

  • Good Knowledge in ISO 14001 (EMS), ISO 45001 (OHSMS), Environmental Rules & Regulations, Environmental Audit Standards etc.
