Evaluate leveraged lending requests, including large-scale leveraged buyouts and analyze credit data to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Perform credit due diligence and analysis on borrowers and trading counterparties across sectors of the Firm. Conduct high quality credit analysis on the counterparty and recommend for approval financing and derivative transactions. Conduct internal calls with the Investment Banking and Capital Markets coverage teams, perform independent research, and establish credit ratings, outlook, and loss given default of counterparties. Prepare and oversee documentation for credit decisions, including credit memos, detailed financial forecasts and enterprise valuation, and credit risk rating models. Review loan and derivatives documentation with counterparties and propose credit terms to IBD, Capital Markets, and Sales colleagues. Conduct industry research and develop sovereign and macro risk views to support decision making. Monitor a large and complicated credit portfolio quality on the assigned sectors on an ongoing basis consisting of investment grade and non-investment grade companies. Make presentations to regional and global risk teams on sector analysis and deep dive. Maintain an active view of single name, sector, and industry trends and ongoing communication with senior stakeholders and onsite regulatory team. Prepare and present quarterly and ad-hoc industry updates to senior management.

Salary: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $103,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

Requirements:

Requires a Master’s degree in Management and Systems, Enterprise Risk Management, or a related field of study and one (1) year of experience in the position offered or one (1) year as an Analyst, Credit Risk Analyst, or a closely related occupation. Requires one (1) year of experience with: providing an assessment of the credit worthiness of corporations and preparing lending approval materials in connection with lending activities and interest rate hedge derivative transactions; underwriting and portfolio management of loans to borrowers in Technology, Media and Telecom, and Early-Stage High-Growth industries to support both committed financing transactions and best-effort transactions; performing fundamental credit and financial analysis to provide independent risk recommendations to senior risk management; applying credit and industry risk knowledge to assign internal credit ratings, loss given default designations, regulatory classification and set firmwide single name and industry limits; preparing and presenting industry developments to senior management utilizing MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Capital IQ, Broker reports, and third-party research; analyzing and communicating potential risks regarding financial performance of individual issuers and potential risks to corporate lending exposure from industry developments in the Technology, Media and Telecom industries; performing financial forecasts and valuation of credit counterparties; analyzing potential risks regarding operational or financial performance of individual borrowers, and the subsequent financial risk to lenders and debt holders; providing credit structural consideration by reviewing credit agreement, terms sheet, financials and maintenance covenants, general debt basket, and restricted payment capacity; preparing and maintaining documentation for early-stage high growth methodologies and procedures; leveraging knowledge of credit regulatory requirements to prepare documentation for SNC (Shared National Credit) regulatory exams; RiskVision, SyndTrak, DebtDomain, and DebtX.
